We Live, We Love,
We Serve

El Bethel Church is a ministry with a big heart and a deep love for God. In our services, we create an atmosphere where we can let go, invite God in, and allow Him to have His way. Our church is firmly grounded in prayer, fasting, the Word of God, and unwavering faith. We love to lift up the name of Jesus and are passionate about serving both people and our community. Each day we strive to grow and walk closer with God.

El Bethel is blessed with several active ministries that serve both inside the church and throughout the community. These include our Street Ministry Team, Praise and Worship Team, Adult Ministering Choir, Ambassadors for Christ Youth Choir, Brotherhood Department, Women’s Department, Hospitality and Benevolence Department, Usher Board, and Mothers Board.

Though we are a growing church, our heart will always remain the same. We will never become too big to warmly welcome and love every visitor who walks through our doors. We would be honored for you to visit and prayerfully consider becoming a part of the El Bethel family. You are always welcome here!

Our Beliefs

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.

We believe that there is One God, eternally existent in three Persons; God the

Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is

in Christ at His return.

We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin, is through repentance,

faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ and being baptized in water.

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal

salvation.

We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the

human body in answer to believing in prayer.

We believe that the baptism in the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4, is given to

believers who ask for it.

We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling, the

Christian is enabled to live a Holy and separated life in this present world. Amen.

Church History

In 1973, in obedience to the voice of the Lord, Elder and Missionary Gwendolyn Ingram founded El Bethel Church of God in Christ. The ministry began in a small, one-room building above a garage on Claude Street in Dallas, Texas. In 1976, Pastor Ingram temporarily closed the doors of El Bethel to assist Evangelical Faith Church, where he served faithfully for two years under the leadership of Elder Herman and Sister Laura Jones.

In 1978, El Bethel reopened on Overton Road in Dallas, Texas. During this time, the church was often referred to as “the children’s church” because the congregation included more youth than adults. Despite its size, God moved mightily in that place, and many souls were saved, delivered, and set free. As time passed, the Lord continued to add to the church, and the congregation soon outgrew the building. Recognizing the need for more space, Pastor Ingram decided it was time to rebuild. In 1990, property was purchased on Oxbow Lane. While the new sanctuary was being built, services continued on Overton Road.

In 1996, Pastor Ingram received a call from the late Superintendent W. E. Roberts to help reconstruct a church in Midlothian, Texas. Pastor Ingram, along with members of the Brotherhood, traveled to Midlothian and completely remodeled the church. He renamed the church Powerhouse COGIC. From 1996 to 1998, Pastor Ingram pastored both El Bethel and Powerhouse before combining the two congregations in 1998.

In 1999, although the new edifice on Oxbow Lane was not completely finished, it was far enough along to host a Pastoral Anniversary service. In 2000, the doors of El Bethel officially opened at the new location. Led by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Ingram also purchased the property next door in 2003 to help fulfill the vision God had given him for the ministry.

On December 22, 2000, Missionary Gwendolyn Ingram was called home to be with the Lord. Pastor Ingram continued to trust and believe in God. On September 13, 2010, Pastor Ingram was also called home to be with the Lord. As his health began to decline, he began preparing Elder Albert L. McCullar for pastoral leadership by training him in the duties and responsibilities of the pastorate. After Pastor Ingram’s passing, Elder McCullar continued the ministry and pastoral responsibilities as appointed. On January 22, 2012, Elder Albert L. McCullar was officially installed as Pastor of El Bethel Church.

El Bethel has been blessed to have such great leaders as our founders. Their love for the Lord and their unwavering faith helped establish the strong foundation upon which the church continues to grow today. The members of El Bethel COGIC will always honor, cherish, and remember their legacy.

Elder McCullar was born and raised in Dallas, TX. Being raised as a preacher's kid, he learned how to play the drums and lead guitar. At a later age, he learned to play the piano and organ.
